Stephanie McMahon talks about the possibility of WWE acquiring wrestling promotions.
In recent years we have seen how WWE with Evolve and, more recently, AEW with ROH made significant financial investments to acquire wrestling companies. However, this practice is rare within the business.
Recently, Stephanie McMahon, current CEO and Chairman of WWE, was at the Wells Fargo TMT Conference, where she spoke with analyst Steven Cahall who asked her about the company acquiring wrestling promotions, to which she responded by leaving the door open. To make it happen, especially at the international level.
To give a few examples of what I meant by that, an acquisition has to align with our capabilities, whether it’s smaller wrestling promotions, say, internationally.
WWE recently confirmed that it plans to expand NXT internationally, as scheduled in the past, so the company may have the intention of buying companies in territories such as Mexico or Japan.
