Possible opponents for Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 are revealed.
There are still a couple of months left for WWE to celebrate a new edition of its great event, WrestleMania. Next year’s edition will take place on April 1 and 2, 2023, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California. At the time of writing this note, there is no match scheduled for said PLE. However, WWE would have already begun preparing the matches that we would see at WrestleMania.
As detailed by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the idea in WWE is for Roman Reigns to have a match every night of WrestleMania 39, where Cody Rhodes and The Rock would be their rivals, respectively. Everything seems to indicate that “The Tribal Chief” would defend a World Championship on Night 1, while he would defend the other World Championship on Night 2.
One of the things that are talked about internally in WWE is that Reigns fights both nights at Mania, with Cody Rhodes and Dwayne Johnson being the work ideas.
Nothing is final, today the best bet is that it will not be carried out that way. There is also talk of splitting the titles so Raw will have a world champion after Mania.
But anything until probably mid-January, when plans have to be finalized due to the Rumble for this year, is just talk.
The complete overreaction when I pointed out the Johnson winning the Rumble thing as the “pie in the sky” inside idea, which, of course, in a perfect world, that’s what you want to do, but that doesn’t mean the ideal world scenario is what which is going to happen given Johnson has much bigger things on his plate like the XFL pitch, movies, TV, you name it.
Undoubtedly, today there are many theories about what WWE will finally do with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, but what would be clear is that Paul Levesque wants RAW to have its own World Championship, which everything indicates that it would be the WWE Championship.
We will have to wait for Royal Rumble 2023 since it will be the critical factor to know what direction WWE will take with the Undisputed Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39.
