Kurt Angle comments on the original plan for his birthday celebration on SmackDown.
This past Friday, on Friday Night SmackDown, Kurt Angle returned to celebrate his 54th birthday in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his place of residence. In addition, Gable Steveson accompanied him at all times in his first television appearance.
In his podcast called The Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic medalist revealed that he was the person who proposed to WWE to somehow celebrate his birthday on this episode of SmackDown in Pittsburgh. In addition, he made it known that what we saw on Friday’s show was not the plan that WWE had originally planned.
Well, I went to WWE and said, ‘Listen, your “Olympic Hero” has a birthday on December 9th. You will be in Pittsburgh; WWE will be in Pittsburgh; it is a perfect time to celebrate my birthday. So they were like, ‘Yeah, let’s think about it. They returned to me and said, ‘Okay, let’s do something.’
They wanted me to do the milk truck segment again. They decided to have a bunch of ‘heels’ talking about me throughout the show, putting me down and criticizing me. So, in the end, they would go out in the ring because I was supposed to have my celebration, I didn’t show up, and the heels would be in the ring with all the birthday cake and everything, and I would come in with the milk truck, and I would go down and spray them. I told them, ‘Hey, you can’t have cake without milk.’
It’s amazing. When they told me, I was very excited. Because that was my favorite moment in WWE, driving that milk truck on the sand in Sacramento, California. It was my number one moment; I love that I had such a good time doing it. And it was a fantastic moment for me to be able to do it again.
Finally, what happened on SmackDown is that Kurt Angle was in the ring from the beginning of the segment. We didn’t see that bunch of ‘heels’ that Angle comments criticizing him throughout the program since he had a confrontation with Chad Gable and Otis. There was a birthday party backstage with multiple ‘faces’ superstars like Street Profits, Madcap Moss, and Emma, among others.
