Kurt Angle comments on his podcast about the original idea for his match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 19
Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle are two of the biggest superstars that WWE has had recently. The first is still active in the company with a part-time contract, and the second is currently retired with sporadic appearances in the company. They have 15 world championships between them. Lesnar cemented himself as ‘The Beast of WWE’ for 20 years, maintaining an impressive win streak with very few losses.
In a conversation for his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show, Kurt Angle revealed that he planned to defeat Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 19. However, a neck injury derailed the entire plan and consequently awarded him the WrestleMania Championship. WWE to Lesnar.
I was next in line to have a good WWE Championship reign. They didn’t want me to beat Brock at Survivor Series because I would fight Brock at WrestleMania 19. Five months later, and during that time, I was supposed to beat Brock, but I broke my neck first. So I had to do the job for Brock and give him the degree because I had to have surgery. So they didn’t want him to beat Brock twice in a row. So Big Show beat Brock Lesnar, then I beat Big Show. That way, I didn’t beat Brock twice.
Brock Lesnar is currently off WWE programming after wrestling Bobby Lashley at WWE Crown Jewel. We will be aware of the following plans for ‘The Beast’ and against which fighter a new rivalry will begin. Kurt Angle appeared on the last SmackDown show having a segment with Alpha Academy and Gable Stevenson at the end of it on the occasion of Angle’s birthday.
